Milano Design Week 2024

Rapt Studio returns to Milan Design Week with an installation that investigates the language of Design, with:

“Design is Language. Speak for Yourself”

The “language” of design belongs to everyone -- but many of us have lost our unique voice.

“Living rooms, hotel lobbies, offices and coffee shops are all curated with the same groupings of the latest objects, hot off the assembly line”, states David Galullo, Chief Creative Officer at Rapt Studio, “In the end, it translates intended comfort into blandness, with no particular stories to tell”

Rapt Studio believes that the built environment is a social medium, and the role of design is to enrich the communication and connection it embodies. Our activation at Salone 2024 will be a call to action to see the built environment as a text, a story to be shared.

Visitors will be greeted with a series of portals -- a portrait of our contemporary moment, as defined by the forces of mass consumption. Although not initially unpleasant, it highlights the genericism and blandness that results from our forfeiture of agency in our relationship with our environment.

The visitor is then guided into a lab for design – offering the visitor the ability to “read” the history of the inhabitants and interact in their storytelling. Beyond, a video plays of memories of interactions, conversations, and histories shared there, just moments/days/weeks before. Engaging guests as active participants, Rapt Studio asks them to reclaim the tools to read and write the world around them.
